First Night Film Festival

Assignments are short and fun. We're always looking for extra help at the event. Volunteers must be 16 years and older, unless accompanied by parent.

First Night Film Festival
First and foremost, all films must be family friendly, in keeping with the theme of First Night. "G" rated films are ideal, "PG" might make the cut- any thing else would not be considered.

Films should be approximately 5 minutes in length. Shorter films are O.K. The longer the films exceed 5 minutes in length, the less likely they will be considered.

Films must be submitted on DVD. The DVD case must be labeled with the following information:
  • Name of Film
  • Length of Film
  • Name of Director
  • Address, Phone Number and E-mail of Director
  • Name of School

Films should be submitted by December 15th. Films can be mailed directly to Cyndie de Neve, First Night Film Festival Coordinator, or you can call First Night at 760-489-4471 to arrange delivery.  Ms. de Neve can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  

A selection committee will review each film, and will determine which films are suitable to be previewed at the Film Festival. If your film is selected, it is expected that you will attend the Festival to introduce yourself and your film, and be available for any questions.

All films will be returned to the Directors at the conclusion of the event, or as soon as practical.

All judging will be at the sole discretion of First Night Escondido officials, or their representatives. All judging decisions are final.
